It's a festive season favourite with a stellar cast including Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black.

And now fans of The Holiday have been left gobsmacked after an influencer mocked the beloved romcom.

Taking to social media with a video that asked 'elder millennials' to guess the age of the cast at the time of filming, influencer Helen McPherson then proceeded to send up the storyline of the box-office smash along with the characters.

Released in 2006, The Holiday follows journalist Iris (Kate Winslet) who swaps homes with Amanda (Cameron Diaz), a movie producer from Hollywood.

While enjoying Iris's country pad in Surrey, Amanda finds romance with her book editor brother, widower Graham (Jude Law).

Meanwhile, Iris meets Miles (played by Jack Black) and dates him.

Taking to social media with a video that asked 'elder millennials' to guess the age of the cast at the time of filming, influencer Helen McPherson (pictured) proceeded to send up the storyline of the box-office smash along with the characters

Starting with Winslet's character Iris, McPherson gave her own summary of the plot.

'Bridget Jones energy,' she began and continued, 'Bit past it, and a bit on the shelf, time was running out for her to get married, that's okay, she lives in a beautiful cottage in [Surrey].

'She's got a good job, she'll be fine, get a couple of cats,' McPherson joked, and added: 'She was 30. She's a baby.'

Pulling a face and rolling her eyes, McPherson moved on to Diaz's character, Amanda.

'[I'm] getting sexy, cougar-like vibes from her, she can't cry, doesn't think she's good in bed, but she's [probably] better than she thinks she is.'

McPherson added that Diaz's Amanda had a 'banging' wardrobe and had 'massive' success in Hollywood.

She continued: 'Lives in a [mansion], Desperate Housewives vibe except she's not married, [I thought she was in her] mid to late 40s. [But she is] 34!

'I didn't even have a frontal lobe at age 34,' she quipped.

Turning to Jude Law's character Graham, McPherson dubbed the handsome star's widower character a 'napkin head' with 'Hugh Grant energy' who she thought was supposed to be late 40s in the story.

'He was 34 [at the time of filming],' she said, adding, 'Sorry, I was just sick in my mouth.'

Finally, the influencer took aim at Jack Black's character Miles, who she described as a 'wacky, funny guy'.

'[He's] not conventionally what you would go for, but you would grow to love him because of his personality,' she said, revealing his age was 37 when he made the movie.

'It's so disturbing to know that I'm older than he is, and I identify as his girlfriend,' she said.

'No, no and no…how is that right…?!' one follower responded to the post on Instagram.

McPherson's video struck a note with another UK user who commented on the storyline's lack of credibility: 'As a 37-year-old teen mum, I've had to leave Surrey as I can't afford a postage stamp to live in, let alone a detached cottage! 30! No way!'

Another user agreed, posting the comment: 'Jude's character is pure fantasy, 30-something, £2m [Surrey] pad, 2 kids, widowed, house full of a lifetime of experience and furnishings.

'No wonder millennials don't feel like we've ever achieved anything.'

Written and directed by Nancy Meyers, The Holiday grossed over US $200million globally after its first release in 2006.
