28 Times Celebs Were Completely Clueless About History, Science, And Basic Common Sense

3 weeks ago 12

Raven-Symoné really said, "I am from every continent in Africa except for one." 💀

We can all be a little clueless sometimes, and I, for one, am glad that there are never cameras around to capture it happening to me. For celebrities, however, it's another story, and they often have viral moments with this energy:

In a scene from "Miss Congeniality," a pageant contestant describes April 25th as the perfect date, stating it's not too hot or cold, needing just a light jacket

Here are 28 times celebs were completely clueless:

1. During The Kardashians Season 7, Kim Kardashian tried to convince her All's Fair costar Sarah Paulson that the 1969 moon landing by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin was fake.

Kim tells Sarah that she's sending her Buzz Aldrin interviews where he says the moon landing didn't happen

Hulu

And when a producer asked what she'd say to people who doubted her conspiracy theory claims, she cited a totally reliable source that's not at all known for spreading misinformation. 🙄

Kim says, "They're gonna say I'm crazy no matter what. But, like, go to TikTok. See for yourself"

Hulu

In response, someone from NASA — you know, the people who sent Armstrong and Aldrin to the moon — publicly corrected her on Twitter.

@NASAArtemis is going back under the leadership of @POTUS. We won the last space race and we will win this one too"

2. Here's another one that has all of NASA shaking its head. While competing on Stars on Mars in 2023, Ariel Winter mistook fellow competitor Lance Armstrong — the former professional cyclist who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping — for astronaut Neil Armstrong — the first person on the moon, who died in 2012. In a confessional, Ariel excitedly said, "Lance Armstrong is a real freaking astronaut. He is a real astronaut. He is Lance Armstrong. You need to google him. You need to know everything about him because he is so cool."

Lance himself said, "There's probably 20-year-olds out there that get me confused with Neil Armstrong. If I were Neil Armstrong, I'd be dead. I'd prefer to be Lance Armstrong at this point."

3. On a Season 6 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha Williams visited the First African Baptist Church, which was used as an Underground Railroad safe haven. After learning about the building's history, she revealed that she thought the Underground Railroad was an actual railroad.

the guide says they don't know how people got in or out of the church, and Porsha says there has to be an opening for the train someone's driving. Her castmates explain it wasn't a train

4. Speaking on a panel in 2017, Hugh Jackman reportedly said that, when he was cast as Wolverine in X-Men, he didn't know wolverines were real. He said, "I didn't even know there was a wolverine. I literally, embarrassingly, did about two weeks of research on wolves. I was rehearsing for three weeks, and I was shooting, so I was kind of on my own. I remember going past an IMAX in Toronto, and there was an IMAX documentary about wolves, and so I thought, 'I'll go and see that.'"

During filming, director Bryan Singer was confused by some of his acting choices. Hugh continued, "He said, 'Are you sort of walking funny? What's going on?' And I said, 'I've been doing this thing with wolves,' and he goes, 'You know you're not a wolf, right?' I said, 'Well, there's no such thing as a wolverine.' [Bryan said,] 'Go to the zoo, dude.' I literally didn't know it existed."

He told Genius, "I'mma blame my A&R because he listened to that song many times, and he allowed me to say that, okay? I guess, for a second, I thought a cello was a woodwind instrument, and it is not. And nobody ever said shit. Nobody ever pulled up a pic and said, 'Hey man, I don't know if you know what this is, but it ain't that.' I fucked up. I thought Squidward played the cello. He don't. That's a flute."
