Raven-Symoné really said, "I am from every continent in Africa except for one." 💀
We can all be a little clueless sometimes, and I, for one, am glad that there are never cameras around to capture it happening to me. For celebrities, however, it's another story, and they often have viral moments with this energy:
Here are 28 times celebs were completely clueless:
1. During The Kardashians Season 7, Kim Kardashian tried to convince her All's Fair costar Sarah Paulson that the 1969 moon landing by astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin was fake.
Hulu
And when a producer asked what she'd say to people who doubted her conspiracy theory claims, she cited a totally reliable source that's not at all known for spreading misinformation. 🙄

Hulu
In response, someone from NASA — you know, the people who sent Armstrong and Aldrin to the moon — publicly corrected her on Twitter.

2. Here's another one that has all of NASA shaking its head. While competing on Stars on Mars in 2023, Ariel Winter mistook fellow competitor Lance Armstrong — the former professional cyclist who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping — for astronaut Neil Armstrong — the first person on the moon, who died in 2012. In a confessional, Ariel excitedly said, "Lance Armstrong is a real freaking astronaut. He is a real astronaut. He is Lance Armstrong. You need to google him. You need to know everything about him because he is so cool."

Lance himself said, "There's probably 20-year-olds out there that get me confused with Neil Armstrong. If I were Neil Armstrong, I'd be dead. I'd prefer to be Lance Armstrong at this point."

3. On a Season 6 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha Williams visited the First African Baptist Church, which was used as an Underground Railroad safe haven. After learning about the building's history, she revealed that she thought the Underground Railroad was an actual railroad.

4. Speaking on a panel in 2017, Hugh Jackman reportedly said that, when he was cast as Wolverine in X-Men, he didn't know wolverines were real. He said, "I didn't even know there was a wolverine. I literally, embarrassingly, did about two weeks of research on wolves. I was rehearsing for three weeks, and I was shooting, so I was kind of on my own. I remember going past an IMAX in Toronto, and there was an IMAX documentary about wolves, and so I thought, 'I'll go and see that.'"

During filming, director Bryan Singer was confused by some of his acting choices. Hugh continued, "He said, 'Are you sort of walking funny? What's going on?' And I said, 'I've been doing this thing with wolves,' and he goes, 'You know you're not a wolf, right?' I said, 'Well, there's no such thing as a wolverine.' [Bryan said,] 'Go to the zoo, dude.' I literally didn't know it existed."

6. In 2018, a fan asked Bebe Rexha where she'd go if she could travel in time. In a since-deleted tweet, she replied, "I would go to Paris 1940s," seemingly unaware that Paris was under Nazi occupation from 1940 to 1944.

Then, in response to another fan who questioned her answer, she admitted history class wasn't her strong suit.

7. During the height of One Direction's fame, a teen magazine asked Niall Horan about his pet peeve. Seemingly thinking the term referred to an actual pet, he answered, "Rabbits. They are pointless and do nothing."

However, he evidently learned what a "pet peeve" is by 2023, because he told Seventeen, "Indecisive drivers on the road. Hate them. My number one, my whole life, is people being untidy in your space."

In the TikTok comments, fans didn't let him forget his past gaffe.

8. On a 2024 episode of his podcast New Heights, Travis Kelce revealed that he recently learned the real title for Alice in Wonderland.

9. Lil Yachty's 2017 track "Peek A Boo" infamously includes the lyrics, "She blow that dick like a cello," which obviously doesn't make sense if you know what a cello is. He told Genius, "I'mma blame my A&R because he listened to that song many times, and he allowed me to say that, okay? I guess, for a second, I thought a cello was a woodwind instrument, and it is not. And nobody ever said shit. Nobody ever pulled up a pic and said, 'Hey man, I don't know if you know what this is, but it ain't that.' I fucked up. I thought Squidward played the cello. He don't. That's a flute."

After SpongeBob fans corrected him, he tweeted, "Squid ward plays clarinet... I got it world lmao."

10. In a 2024 TikTok video, Alicia Silverstone ate a random, unidentified piece of fruit from someone's yard in England. Fans were concerned that the mystery fruit could possibly be solanum pseudocapsicum (aka Jerusalem cherry or winter cherry), which is poisonous.

11. In a 2024 Instagram video, Ludacris drank glacier water in Alaska. Similarly to Alicia's video, he sparked concern from fans about potential health hazards.

According to the National Park Service, water from natural sources shouldn't be drunk until it's been purified because, no matter how clean it appears, it may contain parasites, viruses, and bacteria. Drinking unpurified natural water can lead to waterborne diseases.
In a follow-up video on Twitter, Ludacris said, "For everybody asking me how that glacier water really tasted. When I tell y'all, I'm a water snob, it was the best-tasting water I've ever had in my life, and as I drank it, I felt like every cell in my human body was being hydrated and rejuvenated at the same damn time… I feel like Superman."
12. On an episode of Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, Jessica Simpson infamously questioned whether the Chicken of the Sea brand tuna she was eating was chicken or fish.

14. In 2024, Dakota Johnson told Variety, "I also, like, discovered Celsius on day one of filming the short [Loser Baby], and I didn't know that it was like Red Bull. I thought it was, like, a natural drink. I was like, ‘I'm so inspired. I'm awake all night long. I'm not sleeping...' And it's because I was having, like, two Celsius a day. I thought it was vitamins, 'cause when you read Celsius, on the back, it's just like, 'B12 and Vitamin A...' I thought it was vitamins. I didn't realize that I was basically overdosing on caffeine."

She said she figured it out after her costume designer told her she was "not well" because she was "basically having, like, four Red Bulls."

A 12-ounce can of Celsius contains 200 milligrams of caffeine, whereas a Red Bull of the same size contains 107 milligrams of caffeine. For comparison, an eight-ounce cup of coffee contains a bit under 100 milligrams of caffeine.
According to the FDA, 400 milligrams of caffeine is the maximum amount an average person can consume per day without negative effects, but the amount each person can safely consume depends on other factors.
Also, Celsius says "essential energy" on the front of the can.

21. Promoting her 2012 song "Elephant" on Daybreak, Alexandra Burke claimed she was bringing the common phrase "elephant in the room" to the UK. In the chorus, she sings, "There's an elephant standing in the room / Ah, though we're all alone / It's not just me and you / You wanna talk, you wanna talk about it / Wanna talk, you wanna talk about it, it, it, hey / You wanna talk, you wanna talk about it? / There's an elephant in the room."

Per Yahoo, the phrase "elephant in the room" is credited to Ivan Krylov, a Russian poet, in 1814, and it appeared in the British Journal of Education at least 100 years ago. In 2021, the clip resurfaced and went viral on Instagram. Alexandra told Tyla, "Yeah, it's quite funny! It makes people smile. It's such a light-hearted page to make people laugh, which is what we've all really needed over the last year or so. We all need to have a good laugh, and if an Instagram page can provide that to people, then we're all winning at life!”
